News from the tower
Hats off!
On July 24, the moment finally arrived. At 8:45 a.m., the dome floated down from the Perlach. This highly technical milestone was successfully completed under the watchful eyes of numerous citizens. The dome had to be removed because renovation work is being carried out via the open tower shaft.
Come on in!
Since August 11, the Perlach Pavilion has provided information about the tower’s history and upcoming renovations. The pavilion’s roof is formed by the 12-ton Perlach dome. For the next two years, you can admire it up close here, directly in front of City Hall.
Turamichele, come out!
Even during the renovation, the popular children’s festival will take place on Rathausplatz during Michaelmas weekend (the last weekend in September). With the support of the Puppenkiste, the battle between „good and evil“ will be staged in 2025 and 2026, and Turamichele will stab the dragon to the beat of the bell.
The next steps in 2025
Starting in the summer or early fall, the natural stones of the viewing platform and bell floor will be dismantled. Starting in fall/winter 2025, the old reinforced concrete staircase will be dismantled and removed piece by piece through the open tower shaft. Then, renovation work will begin inside the Perlach.
